Camp Directors' Feedback
Camp Robin Hood
Kids In Camp has been instrumental in helping a number of our camp families attend Robin Hood. Long-time campers are able to return despite financial hardship or a significant event within their family. Robin Hood accommodates children with specific needs and KIC assists parents with the additional costs that our specialized programs incur. These children experience a safe and successful summer with their peers. Truly the greatest benefit to our camp as a whole is we are able to have a camp community in which everyone feels welcome and included and diversity is celebrated and appreciated.

KIC has been very instrumental in allowing many children to attend Camp Kennebec. Without their help and support several of our campers would never have had the opportunity to experience camp. Through the kindness, support and generosity of KIC, many campers have been able to know what it's like to experience the great outdoors, get up on water-skis for the first time, ride a horse, go on an overnight camping trip, make friends and so much more. Every child should have the opportunity to attend summer camp and I am extremely grateful to KIC for the opportunities they have helped provide to the campers of Camp Kennebec. The support of KIC means so much to me personally as I have been able to witness firsthand how much our campers gain from their time at camp. Seeing the kids leave camp having grown socially, emotionally and with a smile on their face makes me very happy and proud. Thank you KIC for all you do to help kids enjoy an experience of a lifetime!!

YMCA Camp Tapawingo
Every year at YWCA Camp Tapawingo, we have many conversations with parents who would desperately love to be able to send their daughter to camp. I talked to one parent today who expressed it better than I can:” I want to be able to provide my daughter with one thing that makes her feel good when so much in her life is sad.”
It was such a privilege for me to be able to make the phone call last spring to another parent and say that we had some funding to help Sydney go to camp. The relief in her mother’s voice was very real. The experience Sydney had was important not just at the time but as a talisman all year – to hold on to her memories and look with anticipation to another summer of fun and being a kid.
Thank you to Kids In Camp in helping us provide this extraordinary experience to kids who just need time to be a kid, to feel good about themselves and to stretch their wings.
Liz Greenway, Manager of Camping and Outdoor Education
We were thrilled to find out about Kids In Camp at last year's OCA Conference. There were a couple of families that came to mind. We found the process to be simple and certainly the flexibility and patience you exhibited to us as we 'learned the ropes' was no less than wonderful.
We look forward to a long partnership in providing the rich camping experience for children who would otherwise be unable to experience the unique opportunity that camp provides to be outside in nature and away from the electronic environment that they are so often immersed in and to interact with other children face to face in positive ways and with positive role models. Thank you Kids In Camp.

Camp Walden is both honoured and proud to be involved with Kids In Camp. We so appreciate the funding that Kids In Camp has been able to provide to members of our camp community. These funds have helped to make camp possible for campers who would otherwise not have been able to attend. Furthermore, we proudly support Kids In Camp knowing that our contributions are going to such a worthwhile cause. We believe so strongly in the value of summer camp for kids, and the way in which it benefits their social and emotional growth; as such, it is so fulfilling to be able to contribute to and be a part of a cause that is so near and dear to our hearts.

Support from Kids In Camp for our subsidy program has been a tremendous help. Knowing that we are supported by a foundation that focuses on giving kids a camp experiences makes KIC's contributions extremely meaningful. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of our campers!

I was very excited last winter to read about the KIC program in an OCA news email. At Selah Camp we have never denied any child the opportunity to have an amazing and often life changing camp experience simply because of lack of money. Your program allowed many additional children this opportunity to make life long memories as we were able to invite several more families to Selah Camp. The Kids In Camp program is a great way to allow the low income families the same opportunities in life as other families. The children that were able to come to our summer camps because of KIC funds were very excited with the chance they were given. Since the cutoff date is the beginning of February, this allowed us to know early that we knew we had enough money in our regular set aside amount to cover any late registrations that would also need support. Thank you so much for allowing Selah Camp to be part of this great program to help less fortunate families still be able to send their kids to camp. Thank you also for being so easy to work with and understanding when information gets delayed from families. I look forward to working with you again this year.

Camp Kodiak is a residential summer camp for children & teens with and
without Learning Disabilities, NLD, ADHD and Asperger Syndrome. Because of
our 2-to-1 ratio, professional staff and specialized programs, our fees need
to be quite substantial to cover our costs. We do what we can to help, but
every year we have to turn away deserving campers whose parents are unable
to pay our fees. We really appreciate the assistance provided to these
families by Kids in Camp.

Thank you for your generous support of three campers for our 2011 season. Your gift allows the Foundation to offer disadvantaged young people the opportunity to enjoy our extraordinary camp and its welcoming community.
